About us

About Dr. Uzochukwu a Special Education Expert and Founder of CareRestores. Dr. Uzochukwu is a special education leader, researcher, and advocate with 27 years of experience helping children with disabilities, their families, and the schools that serve them. She holds a PhD in Special Education and is a licensed K12 special education teacher and a licensed Exceptional Children Program Administrator in North Carolina.

Over her career, Dr. Uzochukwu has taught students with behavioral and intellectual disabilities, led special education programs, and worked with students facing poverty and other barriers to learning. Her research focuses on disability inclusion, and her practice is rooted in a simple belief: every child belongs, and families deserve to be treated as equal partners in their child’s education.

Because she has sat on both sides of the IEP table, she understands how schools make decisions and what families need in order to feel heard. She helps parents understand evaluations, prepare for meetings, and advocate with confidence. She also partners with charter schools, districts, and early learning programs to strengthen compliance, build inclusive classrooms, and train staff in practical, research based strategies.

Dr. Uzochukwu is the founder of the CareRestores Foundation, a nonprofit working toward an inclusive early learning, childcare, and after school center in Wake County, North Carolina. Through the foundation, she supports children with emotional encouragement, leadership development, academic help, and basic resources like hygiene supplies.
